Acupuncture & Herbal medicine
Steve Kippax MSc MNIMH MRCHM MBAcC

Healing comes from inside
Having received 4 years orthodox medical training coupled with over 20 years of busy clinical experience Steve understands orthodox medical treatments and terminology. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Steve's speciality, can often explain what may appear to be random unconnected symptoms, thus allowing a holistic individualised treatment plan involving acupuncture herbal medicine, and advice on diet, exercise and positive thinking, to be developed.

Steve has been practising herbal medicine since 1985, and acupuncture since 1993. He has worked for the NHS specialising in treating Hepatitis C and HIV / AIDS as well as practising in various private clinics in London, Essex, and Suffolk. He has recently been elected president of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and is joint head of medical services at The Third Space Medicine London's leading integrated medical centre.

Aromatherapy & reflexology
Lesley Terry MIFA MAR

An unexpectedly successful course in reflexology changed my life!
I subsequently trained to be a reflexologist with Robert Tisserand and then completed a further course in aromatherapy at the Shirley Price Institute. Newly qualified, I gained invaluable experience at Shrubland Hall on a part-time basis and then joined the Woodbridge Complimentary Health Clinic in 1992 when it first opened.

In 1999 my three colleagues and I opened the Natural Healing Centre, and I have practised there ever since. Along with attending regular courses and working with other therapists, I am currently learning and adding to my skills - hopefully to the benefit of my clients.

Aromatherapy & reflexology
Maggie Kinnear MIFA ITEC MAR

I have always had an interest in health and part of my early career was as a Medical Secretary for the Medical Research Council in London.

A dynamic change in my circumstances caused me to train in the complementary health field - which started with Reflexology in Singapore with Dwight Byers of the International Institute of Reflexology which I continued when I returned to England and this was followed up by training in therapeutic and holistic massage with the London School of Massage in Bayswater and then Aromatherapy with Frances Fewell in Suffolk.

I have been practising now for more than 15 years and have continued my professional development with various advanced massage courses and Vertical Reflex Therapy. VRT is working on the reflexes in the feet whilst the patient is standing, thus reaching deeper reflexes and is very profound. This would normally precede a normal reflexology treatment and is only performed for about five minutes. Very useful for emergency treatments - i.e. sciatica.

I have recently trained in Gaia Healing with Eternal Light - and my wide experience means that I can offer more than straightforward massage and reflexology treatments.

Daoyin Tao® - Chinese Face, Neck and Shoulder Massage / Back Bliss Massage / Reflexology
Gloria Smyth. ITEC-EMBODY-MChTA, VTCT /IIHHT,MDYTA

Daoyin Tao® pronounced (Dow -Yin Tow) is a synergy of softened and adapted traditional Chinese and modern Western massage techniques, which creates a subtle yet powerful harmonious blend. It is a powerful blend of techniques, which exemplifies the balance between YIN and YANG. Along with this, Meridians and acupoints are used in the provision of Daoyin Tao to treat today's stresses and demands from our awareness yet goes on to offer lasting benefit for a wide variety of common health concerns.

What Clients say...
'Daoyin Tao® has given me back my smile and my health, thank you. What's best is that I can totally relax and enjoy my treatment while it works deep to help where needed'

Daoyin Tao® Back Bliss massage:
It can be done on its own or as a combination with Daoyin Tao®  on the face neck and shoulders. Unlike most traditional forms of massage, the Daoyin Tao® back bliss massage is designed to balance energy rather than working specific muscle groups. The Daoyin Tao® back massage utilizes the energy found in the main meridians which extend along the length of the back. These include the: Du Meridian & Urinary Bladder Meridian. Reflexology Reflexology and Daoyin Tao®  together represent the perfect balance and each treatment complements the other for the maximum benefits.

Gloria originally trained as a theatre nurse where she has over 14 years of experience. She is a qualified registered Therapy Practitioner in both Reflexology and in Daoyin Tao®. . Until the recent closure of Shrubland Hall Health Clinic she worked there as a Reflexologist. She also carries out voluntary work at St Elizabeth Hospice which she finds as one of most rewarding job she has ever done.

ClarePhillips

Homeopathy, Bach Flower Essences and Gaia Healing
Clare Phillips BEng, LCPH, RSHom, BFRP

Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that treats mental, emotional and physical illness. Homeopathy is one of the most widely used forms of medicine in the world today because people are discovering the benefits of a system of medicine that is safe, effective and treats them as unique individuals. It is safe to use at all stages of life, including during pregnancy and with babies and small children.

Homeopathy is an effective system of healing that assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It recognises that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the patient who needs treatment, not the disease.  Homeopathic medicines are chosen to treat the whole person, because homeopaths believe the mind and body operate as one and you cannot treat one part of the body without affecting the whole. Medicines are chosen to fit all the characteristics of the patient, hence physical disorders are considered in relation to an individual’s mental and emotional state. It is safe to use in all stages of life, including during pregnancy and with babies and small children.

Bach Flower Essences work by working on the individual rather than the disease or its symptoms, transforming negative attitudes into positive ones. The purpose of the remedies is to support your fight against illness by addressing emotional factors such as depression, anxiety and trauma that are thought to impede physical healing. They can also be used preventatively at times of anxiety and stress and are particularly helpful for the many people who feel generally tired and unwell without a specific medical diagnosis. A combination of remedies is put together specifically for your individual needs.

GAIA is a form of healing, similar to Reiki, which rebalances the energy systems in the body. Earth energy is channelled through the hands of the healer according to your best needs, bringing harmony and balance to the body mind and emotions. It is a very relaxing and calming experience and can be used to help with mental and emotional conditions such as fear, anxiety, depression, as well as physical illness.

As with many complementary therapists, Clare developed a passion for alternative therapies through personal experience. Following a successful career in engineering, Clare trained as a homeopath at the London College of Practical Homeopathy for four years, gaining a Licentiate of the College of Practical Homeopathy (LCPH) and is a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths (RSHom). Clare is also a Bach Flower Essence Registered Practitioner  and an advanced GAIA Healer and runs practices in Woodbridge and Ipswich.

Indian head massage / Shiatsu
Trish Dent Dip. EASS

Shiatsu is a great de-stresser and general health tonic. It 're-balances' the body, improving overall well-being and may resolve many chronic problems, including back pain, digestive and menstrual problems, headaches and other painful conditions.
I work with your body during a Shiatsu treatment to open, stretch and mobilise the joints, as well as using gentle finger pressure to adjust the subtle energy that runs through 'meridians' on your body, releasing tension and congestion. Clients report that they have more energy and an improved sense of well-being following a treatment.
You remain clothed throughout the treatment and I suggest that you wear loose-fitting, natural fibre clothing.
A series of treatments may be recommended, depending on your health status. I work holistically and may suggest certain adjustments to diet, exercise and other lifestyle factors to help you improve your level of health.

Indian Head Massage is more than a head massage. During the 30-minute treatment you will have your neck, shoulders, arms, scalp and face worked on with a gentle yet firm touch that melt away tension, stiffness, aches and pains, leaving you feeling revitalised, yet calm and centered.
A great de-stressor, try an Indian head massage at the end of a busy day if you need to unwind, or to address a more persistent neck and shoulder problems.

Trish has been practicing Shiatsu since 1998 and Indian Head Massage since 2000. She is currently studying a holistic nutrition course with the College of Natural Nutrition. Trish works from treatment rooms in Woodbridge, Walpole (Halesworth), Debenham and Saxmundham and also runs 'Mind your Body', a stretch and relaxation class.
