Acupuncture & Herbal medicine
Healing comes from inside
Having received 4 years orthodox medical training coupled with over 20 years of busy clinical experience Steve understands orthodox medical treatments and terminology. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Steve's speciality, can often explain what may appear to be random unconnected symptoms, thus allowing a holistic individualised treatment plan involving acupuncture herbal medicine, and advice on diet, exercise and positive thinking, to be developed.

Steve has been practising herbal medicine since 1985, and acupuncture since 1993. He has worked for the NHS specialising in treating Hepatitis C and HIV / AIDS as well as practising in various private clinics in London, Essex, and Suffolk. He has recently been elected president of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and is joint head of medical services at The Third Space Medicine London's leading integrated medical centre.  enquire

Indian head massage / Shiatsu
Trish Dent Dip. EASS

Shiatsu is a great de-stresser and general health tonic. It 're-balances' the body, improving overall well-being and may resolve many chronic problems, including back pain, digestive and menstrual problems, headaches and other painful conditions.
I work with your body during a Shiatsu treatment to open, stretch and mobilise the joints, as well as using gentle finger pressure to adjust the subtle energy that runs through 'meridians' on your body, releasing tension and congestion. Clients report that they have more energy and an improved sense of well-being following a treatment.
You remain clothed throughout the treatment and I suggest that you wear loose-fitting, natural fibre clothing.
A series of treatments may be recommended, depending on your health status. I work holistically and may suggest certain adjustments to diet, exercise and other lifestyle factors to help you improve your level of health.

Indian Head Massage is more than a head massage. During the 30-minute treatment you will have your neck, shoulders, arms, scalp and face worked on with a gentle yet firm touch that melt away tension, stiffness, aches and pains, leaving you feeling revitalised, yet calm and centered.
A great de-stressor, try an Indian head massage at the end of a busy day if you need to unwind, or to address a more persistent neck and shoulder problems.

Trish has been practicing Shiatsu since 1998 and Indian Head Massage since 2000. She is currently studying a holistic nutrition course with the College of Natural Nutrition. Trish works from treatment rooms in Woodbridge, Walpole (Halesworth), Debenham and Saxmundham and also runs 'Mind your Body', a stretch and relaxation class.

Massage Therapy is a wonderful way to unwind, relax and help the body return to Stillness. Deep healing can begin for a person when the Body, Mind and Soul are guided back into balance and Massage Therapy is a wonderful tool to help guide this process. I bring a holistic approach to my work based on over 20 years of experience.

The benefits of massage first showed themselves to me when I was working as a chiropodist in the early 90's using massage as part of integrated foot care. During this time I was also undergoing a two year period of personal training in spiritual healing, meditation and clairvoyance at the College Of  Psychic Studies in London which helped bring together the Mind, Body and Spirit connection.

My life path then took a dramatic turn when I met a Native American Elder and was offered an opportunity to move to the USA  to begin a traditional apprenticeship. Over the next 6 years I lived and studied and learnt what it means to live as a 'person of  medicine'. This time in my life has deeply rooted me as an individual and offers a solid foundation upon which I base my work.

In 2005 I qualified as a Massage Therapist and offer treatments in Swedish and Pregnancy Massage and will be offering Hot Stone Therapy to my clients from March 2012.

Reiki / Yoga
Elly Lloyd BWY Dip, Reiki II.

REIKI (pronounced “RAY-KEY”) is a Japanese word widely translated as ‘universal life force energy’.  Reiki is holistic because it affects the whole person - body, mind and spirit.  It can bring about deep relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing, and this in turn may help the physical body’s healing ability to work more efficiently.  It is not a religion or belief system.  Reiki healing can benefit anyone in the normal course of their life and can bring comfort to people suffering from a range of conditions.  It is important to stress here that Reiki should not be regarded as a cure for any condition, but Reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment - conventional medical treatment as well as complementary therapies.
I have been drawn to healing and a deep desire to ‘make everything better’ since I was a child. Being very sensitive, I have found my path quite a difficult one, wanting to heal the world is quite a burden to carry around.
However, my volunteer work at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich as a Reiki therapist taught me a valuable lesson, as healers we have a responsibility to enable others to recognise their own innate ability to heal themselves.
This has become my mission statement ‘not to be the healer, but through my healing, be able to empower people to see the healer within’.

If you have never experienced the calm, peace and serenity that a Reiki healing can bring, then it is a therapy you must try. Our lives can be so busy and so demanding on all levels, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.
Even the slightest stress in any or all four of these areas can put our energy systems, also known as chakras, out of balance. When we are out of balance, our stress levels increase and we become even less equipped to deal with ‘life’.
A Reiki treatment can bring our energy centres back into balance, improving our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing. I would describe a treatment as an opportunity to return to that place of deep peace, knowing that all is well and that we are all exactly where we need to be right now in this given moment.
This takes a higher consciousness that Reiki can unveil.
Reiki, Crystal therapy, Colour readings & healing
Jane Kershaw
Crystal therapy
Crystals are such beautiful and exquisite formations. Each crystal holds a specific energy and the power in the healing with crystals is that they are able to perfectly maintain a precise frequency which can then be used to bring our own energy centres back into balance. When we place crystals within the chakras or around the energy field, we are raising or lowering the frequency within these systems to create balance. During a treatment, small crystals are placed on or around the chakra systems along the body. The crystals chosen will be unique to each individual, dependant on the individual’s specific needs. As a crystal therapist, I am also aware of the unique attributes of specific crystals in terms of their ability to heal very specific conditions.

Colour readings and healing
Colour has immense power to heal through its ability to illuminate areas in our lives that are difficult or challenging, also areas that we love. We use colour and are surrounded by colour every day, we make subtle choices regarding colour in so many ways, the most obvious being the clothes we choose to wear or the colours we choose to have in specific rooms in our homes. Have you any idea why you are always drawn to a specific colour? Or is there a particular colour that you have never liked? This information can say something very unique about you as an individual and your own unique gifts and talents.
To conduct a colour reading I use my knowledge and intuition of colour energy and vibration learned through my Reiki and crystal therapy, combined with the aura soma bottles and cards, a powerful combination.

Having practiced yoga for many years I undertook the British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma between 2000 and 2003 and have been teaching yoga in the UK and Spain since 2000.

Yoga was developed in India thousands of years ago but it is still very relevant in today’s hectic world.  The most commonly practiced yoga in the West is Hatha Yoga, which concentrates mainly on the physical body through “asanas” (postures) and “pranayama” (breathing practices).

The gentle stretching of our bodies helps to improve blood circulation, which in turn enhances muscle tone, strength and overall fitness.  The body becomes more balanced and symmetrical.  The general toning of the muscles through yoga practice will strengthen the muscles supporting the spine and this can have a big beneficial impact on backache.  Many postures massage the abdominal organs which can lead to an improvement in the digestion.  As your posture and flexibility improve, you will feel more healthy, confident and rejuvenated.  Better posture and a heightened awareness of the body will also improve respiration.  As we sit and stand with straighter backs, so the chest can expand more readily, allowing space for more breath to enter the lungs, thereby improving oxygenation throughout the body.  Awareness of the breath in yoga practice will generally reduce the breathing rate, heart rate and blood pressure - all of which can lead to an improved physical wellbeing.

Yoga is suitable for most people, and I offer one-to-one yoga sessions (1 hour duration) preceded by a short consultation for which there is no charge.  I am also able to offer “The Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs” programme which is a specialist course of 12 x 75 minutes sessions for those with non-specific recurrent lower back pain, which will give life-long skills to improve mental and physical health.
I have had a strong interest in healing for many years and in 2013 I decided to undertake Reiki training.  This is a process known as “attunement”, whereby the Reiki Master ‘attunes’ the student to the energetic vibrations of the Reiki healing energy.  I qualified to Reiki II level which allows me to offer Reiki professionally.

The Reiki treatment is non-invasive and the client remains fully clothed.  I will place my hands on your shoulders at the start and end of the treatment and the rest of the time I will hold my hands just above your body in a sequence of positions.  During the treatment you may feel heat or tingling in the area(s) where my hands are, or sometimes you may feel nothing at all - this is quite normal.  Generally everyone feels calm and relaxed during and after at treatment.

Reiki balances and works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels and each person receives exactly what they need at that time.

Counselling is helpful in responding to specific difficulties, issues or crises that are more current.  These problems are more easily identified and are then explored over an agreed number of weeks or months; sometimes longer.

Counselling considers the cause of presenting problems, explores how the difficulties are impacting upon day to day life, thoughts, feelings and emotions and helps create coping strategies that will empower new ways of responding to problems and difficulties; both now and in the future.
Psychotherapy is helpful where difficulties are known to exist, but the origin of the problem is not necessarily clear or, in some cases, may be related to an historic trauma.

The impact of the difficulty being experienced may be causing considerable psychological distress and, in some cases, a physiological disorder or physical symptoms.  This is often because the difficulty may be causing an unwellness to the person as a whole; 'mind, body, spirit' - so to speak.

Psychotherapy is an in-depth therapy, with far reaching benefits and greater potential for meaningful, long-term change.

Typically, psychotherapy will go on for considerably longer than counselling; anything from six months to several years, with sessions either weekly or often at a higher frequency.

I am an experienced  Hypnotherapist/Psychotherapist/ Counsellor and Life Coach working from The Natural Health Centre,Woodbridge and I also offer appointments in Felixstowe

Before qualifying as a therapist I held a senior management position for many years which I believe has given me an insight into some of the issues that we can face in our day-to-day lives.

Since taking the decision to make a career change I became increasingly interested in the different forms of complimentary therapies, but it was ‘the mind’ that I became increasingly fascinated by, and the effect that our mental and emotional state could have on our physical well being.

What I enjoy most about the therapies that I offer is the way in which I can ‘help people to help themselves’.
As individuals we all have areas of our lives that we would like to improve on and yet it is not always easy to take that first step on the road to being the person we would like to be, living the life we would like to live.

Using an integrative approach to therapy and working in partnership with my clients I offer support and help in a confidential, caring, non-judgmental and safe environment.

Here is a brief outline of the main therapies that I use and some examples of how they might help you.

There are many reasons why you might be considering therapy, for example, you might be facing, or trying to get over a crisis in your life, or you might just feel ‘stuck’ in an unsatisfactory job, or relationship.
Other triggers that prompt people to seek out therapy are

A feeling of being unhappy
That life is chaotic and out of control
A general feeling that there is ‘more to life’
Family problems, eg  trying to juggle the demands of marriage ,children elderly parents
Women can find this period of their life particularly demanding. During this time of hormonal upheaval they can feel a whole range of emotions , feeling isolated, unattractive, useless and generally ‘down’ just to name a few and therefore may need support to move forward into the next phase of their lives..a time when their own personal needs ,wishes and ambitions  can take priority

As an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist I can help you to identify and remove irrational barriers, such as a negative self-image and self defeating behaviors’ ’, which might be causing, or in the very least contributing to any of the above feelings and emotions.

This is just a brief outline of some of the work that I do.
If you feel that I can be of help to you....or if you just want some additional information then just call reception at The Natural Health Centre, or email me on Karenaferris@yahoo.co.uk..or check out my website www.thephoenixeffect.co.uk

You can also call into the centre where I have a folder outlining my therapies and  included are a selection of client letters showing the wide range of conditions that I have successfully treated.

I offer a no obligation initial consultation where we can meet face-to-face and discuss what  combination of therapies I offer will be the most effective for you.
This is a very important part of the process because you need to feel comfortable and confident with the therapist that you choose to work with.

Knots-Therapy is run by experienced, local therapist Charlie Mackinlay.
Focusing primarily on holistic massage to provide relaxation, relief from tired aching muscles, tension and stress; partly caused by today’s fast-paced lifestyles. I qualified as a professional massage therapist in 2006 and set up Knots-Therapy in March 2011. I believe that good health and well-being are an important part of everyday life.  I embarked on my own personal journey, which inspired me to heal and help people. I have travelled extensively, which has given me an insight into different cultures and ways of holistically treating ailments, which I feel has inspired me in my work and the practices that I use. It is for everyone who wants to cross the great divide from stress to tranquillity.

Reiki, Reiki Drum & Lotus Blossom Head Massage
Lesley Sherlock ~ Roseheart Reiki
Reiki is both the name for the system of healing and is the name for the energy, which loosely translated means ‘ spiritually guided universal energy’. We are surrounded by energy everyday in many forms. Reiki is a high frequency energy that can be channelled by a practitioner for use either on themselves or other people.  Having a reiki treatment is therefore very relaxing, can help with physical aches and pains, emotional problems and can also help you get back in touch with who you are. Many of us have conflicting demands placed upon ourselves and our time and it is all too easy to be swept along by the busy pace of modern life; reiki is a tool to help you take time out for yourself.
Reiki is not just another complementary therapy, it is a way of managing your personal energy and staying in touch with who you are. It was originally developed out of mainly Tendai Buddhist meditative practises and the healing benefits were more a side effect of these. Reiki is however easy to learn and a First Degree course will equip you with all you need to know and you do not need to adhere to any particular religious belief or system, it will still work for you.

Reiki Drum Technique
This is a relatively new reiki healing technique that combines the stabilising and grounding sounds of the drum with the high frequency energy of reiki. There are three core techniques: Reiki Drum Healing, Reiki Mental Emotional Re-programming and Reiki Drum Journey. Depending on what you wish to address, drum sessions can help you to release energetic blocks, let go of negative habits or tendencies and connect to your own inner wisdom around challenging life issues. You can also use a session to help you focus on a particular goal or personal issue that you would like help with. People with depression and addiction particularly benefit from these sessions. The first two techniques include some traditional hands on Reiki, the Drum Journey is purely drumming, a guided meditative journey inducing alpha and theta states allowing a heightened state of consciousness which can reveal deep personal insights, even in the days following the session.

Lotus Blossom Head Massage
This head massage loosely follows the system developed by Narendra Mehta, who first brought Indian Head Massage to the UK as a standalone therapy. It uses a series of rhythmic massage techniques over the upper back, neck, arms and head to release tension, soothe aching muscles and uplift your energy. It includes some facial acupressure, vocal toning and visualisation (optional) and is completed by energy balancing using Reiki. If you suffer from migraines, tension headaches, insomnia, use a computer regularly or have IBS then this is your perfect therapy.  It is carried out with the client seated and does not use any oils or creams. Prepare to feel refreshed and uplifted!
Lesley Sherlock has been practising professionally since moving to Suffolk from London in 2014 and has recently completed the Reiki Drum Practitioner training, which she is very excited to be able to offer to clients at the clinic. She was first initiated into the reiki energy system in 2004 and has regularly continued a personal practice since then, training to Master Teacher level in 2009.  She teaches Reiki based on the traditional, simple Japanese system, which focuses on reiki as a daily spiritual practise.

Call the centre directly to book treatments or if you would like further information, Lesley offers a free no obligation telephone consultation.
